Throughout the changing seasons, flowers bloom in radiant splendor, captivating us with their beauty. As they blossom and fade, they remind us of the passing of time. The appreciation of flowers is a sentiment shared universally across cultures and eras, deeply embedded in the human heart.
This exhibition presents a diverse selection of exceptional works centered around the theme of flowers, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in a world of floral abundance.
On the third floor, we showcase the works of Chinami Nakajima (b. 1945), an artist born in Obuse, Nagano Prefecture, who has continuously pushed the boundaries of traditional Japanese painting. His lifelong dedication to painting cherry blossoms is featured in this exhibition. On the second floor, visitors can explore a variety of floral expressions across Japanese and Western paintings, as well as ceramics and glassworks. Additionally, as a special highlight, we present floral works by Bernard Buffet, one of the leading figures in post-World War II French painting, who made flowers a recurring motif throughout his career.
