An Unprecedented Exhibition of Masterpiece Swords, Featuring Sixty Important Art Objects!
The Act Regarding the Preservation of Important Art Objects was instituted in 1933, with the intention of keeping Japanese works of art within the country. Later, in 1950, the Act on Protection of Cultural Properties abolished the designation of “Important Art Objects,” but items that were once granted that designation are still highly regarded.
This special exhibition features an incredible collection of some sixty Japanese swords designated Important Art Objects, displayed alongside detailed information on their designations. Explore the compellingly diverse characteristics of Japanese swords through their history and more.
