The Shusui Museum of Art is proud to present our special autumn exhibition “Koichi Takeuchi: Warm Gaze.” Based in Kyoto, Takeuchi is one of the leading contemporary Japanese artists, whose paintings convey a modern sense of Japanese charm.
Takeuchi’s works are based on the traditional Japanese painting methods of the Kyoto art world, but have a unique worldview and sensibility centered on animals and still life paintings, and have attracted a large following. This exhibition celebrates Mr. Takeuchi’s creativity and artistic talent while exploring his fascinating and rich worldview.
We hope that as you study his work, you will be able to appreciate the delicate beauty of nature and spirituality of Japanese culture, as well as the hidden charms and possibilities, expressed herein. We further hope that these pieces reaffirm the Japanese aesthetic sense and artistry nurtured by our predecessors, and share the richness of our hearts with all our guests.
